RACHEL SEDGWICK

“An equal world is an enabled world.” This is the theme for International Women’s Day 2020, but what does it mean? To ‘enable’ means ‘to make possible’, so ‘an equal world is a world made possible’. In other words, this year’s theme is all about recognising that we are all actively responsible for creating an equal world. We can choose to challenge stereotypes, fight bias, improve situations and celebrate women’s achievements.

JDX is proud to support this year’s theme, and to talk about the various ways in which we are actively taking responsibility for trying to create an equal world. JDX has always been conscious of the history of gender bias within the Finance industry. Since its inception, JDX has actively maintained a 50:50 gender population. We are consciously working to close our pay gaps and are delighted to announce that in our second year of reporting, we have closed 3 of the 4 reportable gaps, details of which can be found here. We have improved the male to female ratio of our executive board to 4:4 and have introduced a new performance review and promotion process designed to address unconscious bias which comprises fair and objective performance evaluations.

The mission of International Women’s Day’s ‘Women in the Workplace’ campaign is ‘to champion women of all backgrounds who dare to innovate, lead and uplift others towards a more equal ad inclusive workplace.’ Our dedicated Diversity in Business and Women in Business committees regularly run and attend events to actively promote and understand the contemporary issues surrounding gender diversity in business. Our diversity of backgrounds is what sets us apart and allows our consultants to think differently – it is something that we are proud of and we encourage and celebrate anyone who dares to innovate at any level. More than anything, JDX Consulting is an organisation founded on the principle of entrepreneurship. Walk anywhere in JDX and you will see and hear the principle of ‘JDX can-do’ reverberating around the walls.

We understand that an equal world requires actively creating equal opportunities and improving situations, and we will continue to take the necessary steps towards achieving this. JDX Consulting are proud advocates of women and support International Women’s Day 2020.
